Every [[:spaceships|spaceship]] has a specific number of system slots where ship systems can be installed. These slots determine what types of systems a spaceship can support and what roles it can fulfill.

For essential systems such as scanners, mining lasers, or communication modules.

Ship systems can significantly alter and expand a spaceship's functionality. By installing specific systems, spaceships can be customized for exploration, trade, combat, or other specialized tasks.

New ship systems can be unlocked through [[:research|research]]. Each upgrade requires specific **resources** and **credits**, which must be gathered during the game. The **full cost** of a system is **refunded upon removal**, allowing flexibility when reconfiguring spaceships.
