Version 0.39 — Released July 16, 2026
Update 0.39 improves control, the first-session flow, NPC behavior, and sector performance. It adds configurable keybindings and consistent Steam Deck controls, while making the first jump clearer and tightening pirate behavior, Blueprint handling, and a range of smaller systems.
Highlights:
- Full keybinding system — separate keyboard-and-mouse and controller layouts with globally saved custom bindings
- Improved onboarding and first jump — clearer start flow, complete starting equipment, direct ship selection, and safer jump validation
- Steam Deck controls — standardized Xbox-compatible controller mapping with optional trackpad and back-button bindings
- Performance and NPC improvements — camera-aware sector particles, pooled effects, cleaner NPC sleep states, and more efficient sector updates
- Blueprint and pirate improvements — more reliable Blueprint handling, corrected Blueprint weapon accuracy, and pirates that abandon pursuits more reliably
